This ZibraVDB release indicates a major shift in our technology adoption strategy. It is aimed to provide easier access to our product on the Unreal Engine platform, along with big quality of life improvements.
From now, we provide trial access to compression, which allows all users to adopt the .zibravdb format. Since ZibraVDB playback is free, you can share or sell volumetric visual effects with greatly reduced size without sacrificing quality. This release also includes major performance improvements and critical fixes which our community addressed to us.
What’s new:
- 5 free compressions available to all users
- Performance improvements — up to 66% faster. Next week, we’ll be sharing a detailed deep-dive article featuring extensive testing of this update.

Bug fixes:
- Fixed volume disappearing when scale is set to large or fractional values.
- Fixed wrong rendering in packaged project when using ZibraVDB inside blueprint.
- Fixed crash when saving map with ZibraVDBVolume instance material with HV is enabled.
- Fixed profile markers missing on UE 5.5.
